In case you ever wondered, this is what LOVE looks like. Tucker is an adorable standard-size long-hair dachshund who absolutely LOVES everyone. During the ride home, he kept reaching his paw through the bars on his crate to try to touch my arm. When I'd pet him, he gave me the most soulful look. He knows exactly how to worm his way into your heart. Don't look too long, or he'll have you under his spell!
Tucker is less than a year old and is a dapple, though most of his dappling is diluted. He does have some dappling on his head, though. He's a bigger boy than most of my fosters. He weighs about 14 pounds and would be considered a small standard.
He loves my 1 and 2 year old children. He gets along well with all of the foster dogs and cats in our home. Tucker is crate trained and does very well in it. He is working on house-breaking, though, and will require more attention in that area when he gets to his new home. Tucker's adoption fee is 240.00 and not only covers his neuter, vaccinations, heart-worm test, and other medical bills, but every single penny that is left over goes directly to our constantly-growing vet bills that are incurred by our older, sick, and less-adoptable dogs. Without the help of the younger, healthy dogs' adoption fees, we would not be able to provide heart-worm treatment for the other 90% of dogs that come in with heart-worm. We would not be able to provide much-needed dentals for seniors who have been neglected. Medications for dogs with skin issues, diabetes, back injuries, and a whole host of other ailments would be out of our reach without our adoption fees. By adopting a dog from GCDR you are not only giving a homeless dog a home, but you are making a difference in countless others' lives. By adopting one, you are saving a life by helping us open a spot for the next needy dog in a kill shelter. By adopting one, you are helping to provide vet care that many shelters and animal controls can't. YOU are the key to a better life for these dogs.
